With the increase in illegal rave parties in the UK, psytrance grew in status and reputation and ended up with something of a cult following. However, since electronic music has become more and more mainstream in recent years, the harder genre of psytrance has seen its audience dwindle in favour of the sharp synthesized rhythms of DJs like Soulwax and Erol Alkan who have taken the club scene by storm by appealing to younger party-goers.
    TRANCE!!!
    -130-160 beats per minute.
-Started in the UK and originated from Acid House.
-Can have, but is not required to have four-on-the-floor.
-Can have the closed hat on the offbeat.
    -Can contain some vocals.
-Can have a bit of hip hop.
    -Need to get melodic arpeggios.

NOTES: Psychedelic Trance and sub genres/Projects. 140 and 150 BPM. Psychedelic trance uses prominent bass beats that pound constantly throughout the song, and overlays the bass with varying rhythms. The different leads, rhythms and beats generally change every 32 beats. Psychedelic trance tracks tend to be 6–10 minutes long. Reverb is also used heavily, with large, open sounding reverb present on most of the lead synthesizers in the track. Introductions can start off slow and strange, and then break off into the actual song. Some Psychedelic Trance artists include Man With No Name, Hallucinogen, Infected Mushroom, X-Dream, Cosmosis, and Wizzy Noise.
    Atom Grinder.
The first live group usually has the biggest challenge, especially when few of you have ever played an instrument before.
Follow these guidelines to get started.
Pick a leader who will facilitate the creation of the tune.
    Consider doing an ABA form.
Work one section at a time.
Layer parts... start with your kick, add a bass, add a pad, then put a melodic figure on top.
Count the bars very carefully... make each section at least 16 measures in length.
When your musical sections are put together, you will need to record your performance. If you feel that it is worthy of an audience let us know and we will come in to join you.
Use this form to keep track of what you are doing from class to class.
When Finished... Post your recording to your portfolio.
A Collaboration Rubric will then be assigned.

Psychedelic trance developed out of the early 1990s Goa trance scene through the influence of artists such as Timeshard and Eat Static, both on the Planet Dogrecord Label.
In addition, whilst Goa trance was usually made with hardware samplers and Modular synthesizers, modern pystrance uses VST and AU software sampler applications.
    Artists
The first pure psychedelic trance label was Dragonfly Records, formed by the artist and trance producer Martin "Youth" Glover (a former bassist for the bandKilling Joke) in Brixton, London. For this he took advantage of the organization and the studio of his already existing label, Butterfly Records. It quickly became the center of the London psychedelic trance scene. Raja Ram and Graham Woodfirst produced here as The Infinity Project. Simon Posford, who worked as a sound engineer at Butterfly, later released his legendary album, Twisted asHallucinogen on Dragonfly. The first compilation from Dragonfly was released as a trance sampler and was soon followed by another compilation titled Project II Trace in August of 1993. These included work from such well-known artists as the French project Total Eclipse and Mandra Gora. In 1994 it released singles fromMan With No Name, Prana, Ayahuasca, Slinky Wizard and Doof.
